Firewire

I have a macbook that doesn't have FireWire, but my camera, along with most Mini DV camcorders, only can capture with FireWire. Is there any way to get them onto my computer?

Yup. Go online and look for a FireWire Port for your mac! I'm not sure if the Belkin Port will work due to the fact that its for the mac mini ):

But do you have to open up the computer and put it in? Because you can't really do that on a laptop

Sometimes you can get something that converts USB to firewire. It might be alittle be slower, but it will work .

Capturing video with a USB to firewire doesn't sound good at all. Firewire has a constant data rate streaming, USB alternates all over the place, which is no good for video. Think of it as AC and DC, firewire is DC.
