Flash for d100

Ok, i have a Nikon d100. Its a pretty old camera so my digi flash that i had for my d40 doesnt work with it. I was wondering what kind of Nikon flash would work with it because right now im looking into a sb600.

why do you need a nikon flash? just get a vivitar 285hv it will save you hundreds and any flash with a hotshoe can work with slaves

i want to get a nikon flash so i know it works with my old camera. does a vivitar work for an on camera flash too cause i wont be having slaves for a bit.

pretty much any flash with a hotshoe attachment will work on any camera with a hotshoe the only thing better about buying a flash the same brand as your camera is it works better when your using auto mode and i hope you wouldnt be doing that
