getting a cam

photography that is. ive got some money saved up so far and within a few months ill have enough for a camera. ive been reading as many reviews as i can about the D40(x) and Rebel XT(i) and between the four there are many different decisions to make. i pretty much left myself to decide between the XT and the XTi. the only things that i am debating between is cost, size, and noise (though im not gonna shoot much low light anyway). i like the XTi for its physical size and more megapixels but i like the XT for the price. yet cannon kit lenses suck so id either have to buy a lense or go with a nikon. decisions, decisions, decisions....

so whats your opinion?

ive used a xt and a xti for like a week
megapixels basically dont mean shit on cams unless your cropping spaces out, which you shouldnt have to do if you take good photos
there is a custom function setting on both cameras for long exposure noise reduction and it works perfectly
the thing is the max long exposure shutterspeed on shutter priority mode on the rebel and xti is only 30 seconds so if you have the iso at 100 you wont have any noise at all
if your using the bulb function for star trails photos and such (8+ hour exposures) then you just turn on the long exposure noise reduction function on the custom functions menu
i would go with the xt and save the extra money to buy a tokina 10-17mm fisheye for it because it makes your pictures turn out amazing

well see thats the thing i want the xt or xti with a decent lens but im still on a budget. a 560 dollar lens i cant really afford unless i feel like waiting till 08. im trying to have this cam by december the latest. and im looking for something with a bigger aperature/lower f number, somewhere in the 2 range. i was looking at this thinking it might be good http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/371176-GREY/Canon_0284B002_EF_S_60mm_f_2_8_USM.html is it?

yea
the only thing thats a bitch about it is its fixed at a certain focal length so your always shooting at 50mm you cant zoom in or out
50mm is pretty zoomed in too so when your taking pictures of stuff you have to step back a bit
but its also a good macro lens

if you got more than 6 mega pixels just for like shooting photos for scooters and other stuff and not professinoly then thats fine so megapixels dont really matter, the xti lcd viewing screen is bigger, and sensor cleaner but i think XT's have that to.

and YES THEY DO, My kit lenses sucks more that a whore does dick.

yea i was wondering that. ill still get the lens for the first one since im not getting the kit, and then maybe buy another lens in the future if i dont like it. thanks for the help :)

yea i was thinking that but everyone says theyre for beginners, which i am, but i dont want to have to upgrade later. and alot of people say canons are better for quality if you get a decent lens.

ive already decided its gonna be the xti. and thanks for the input, i doubt im gonna use a flash much anyway unless i really wanted an off cam one.
