Getting Back Into Photography

I once owned a camera and decided to sell it to pay for beast of a scooter i have now. A couple months later i found out it was worth it and it wasn't. For one the camera was like 320ish and only like 4 mp and i went throught 4 batteries in about 2 days. So now i am looking into getting a better more quality effiecent camera.
Some help would be nice from someone who knows a little bit about this but so far i am looking at a Digital Rebel XT and im liking what i see. Input would be nice from people who have maybe owned one or has seen one a friend or relative has had.

Get a Nikon D50, really good cam, and its not too expensive compared to other dslr's.

For sure,I love Nikons..

I have both a D50 and a Panosonic Lumix and both produce great results,I think the D50 takes the win in that catogorie tho!
