getting scootering respect

People on this site throw down some huge tricks and that should be enough to get us respect. However, most people still look down on scootering. First, is that we ride something that is considered a kids toy. We as a community need a true strong scooter that doesn't break all the time. You don't see skateboarders constantly having to buy new boards. The only way there is going to be a scooter made of the same quality of say a bmx bike is for the team riders from razor or micro to pressure the companies into making a really strong scooter or some one on this site design one. Also, if you go scootering don't do it it without a shirt or a sleeveless shirt. You just look like an asshole and it doesn't help the image of scootering. Finally, scootering needs a big trick done at a real contest. If Jesse were to pull the double backflip at that austrilan x games it would really bring respect to scootering. Just think what tony's 900 did for skateboarding. Not saying Jesse has to do it. No pressure.

I do, skaters are breaking boards all the time.

We're working on it.

Also, if you go on a forum don't tell people what to wear. You just sound like an asshole and it doesn't help the image of scootering.

But seriously, what would you wear if you lived in Arizona and had to ride in 120 degree heat?

thread is sort of pointless and the guy has no idea what he is talking about. respect will come in time when it gets more popular. john radtke gets alot of respect at our skatepark. skateboarders, bmxers, and all those other guys see all these things that he does, so scooterers in diamond bar get respect. but really this thread is stupid. some skaters hate scooting and some just dont mind so it matters how the skaters feel about it at your park. if they dont like it deal with it cuz it doesnt matter what they think ( unless you are trying to impress them, that when you need to bust out the big stuff)

If you guys really want respect then quit riding parks and looking up to backflips combos and scooterflips. Motocross will die once there are no more backflip combos or 360's. Barely any of the top skateboard videos have park tricks. any trick done off a quarter to flat instead of over a box jump is weak sauce. hit a fat ass hand rail and you'll get respect from almost anyone. I've ridden with the top BMX and Skateboard teams and I know what they think about the sport. no doubt that a double backflip would be sick though and Jesse has enough tricks and style to make his own name in the park world.

scooters are already strong enough. Just bolt the folding system or get some rad bars or yak wheels. Barely anyone rides stock bikes or skateboards. I filmed a whole section with the same scooter and only had to change the wheels twice. My scooter was perfectly fine even after going over a 16 stair four times. Just learn how to land and don't throw your scooter. I also agree that boards break all the time. If your board doesn't break then you must not be doing anything too difficult unless you're rideing vert where it's hard to snap a deck

Yeah plenty of people break skateboards, more than half the skaters I see have another deck with them, or a broken one with them. My friend's bro has a stack of broken decks almost 2 feet tall. For me scooters are plenty strong, like Addison said, learn how to land well and don't throw your scooter and it'll add life to your scooter.
People don't care that much what you look like, unless you look like some 8 year old dressed by your mom. There's a skater I saw at my local skatepark that came in looking completely gay, literally, as if he liked men. But he was really good and smooth so it didn't matter what he wore. This isn't a fashion show.

its funny how you come to a forum with the the name sclacrosse and try to tell us what the fuck to do.
i had so many people in like fucking awe saturday night at the park, i had at least 4 people tell me they were gonna go home and ride there scooters the next day, also im doing demos with my local parks team (they wont exactly sponsor me..but i get payed to ride demos and miss school :) ). plenty of people are working on making scooters bigger, theres been at least 3 bar companies alone. plenty of wheels going around, you dont need much more.
maybe if you werent to busy shoving your lacrosse stick up your ass in your wife beater and rode more youd get some respect.
fucker.

my rant of the day.

Hey, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I think that getting a really solid DVD out there with like addison, codie, Jesse and John would be a great step. Also, Miles it is sick that you get payed to do demos. And Miles before you go around insulting lacrosse, which is a great sport, check you facts. I said not to ride in sleeveless shirts. Wifebeaters= no sleeves. And i am cool with it if it is really hot, but going around with no shirt and acting badass only hurts scootering. I am not the fashion police, but the people on this site are the best scooterers and should be doing everything to help the image. But i am sure if you knew me we would be best friends, buddy.

I got myself banned.
We allready know about all this shit and everything is slowly happening, its just gonna take time. We have skateparks willing to have a competition each year for us (TIC, XW, TZ before it closed) and the sport just has to keep growing until we can get more in more areas. I was talking to Andrew on aim and this websites unique hits has almost doubled.

Scooters last plenty long if you mod them correctly and land sort of decent. The pro model last alotttt longer than a B (i broke a B in 2 weeks, im on my second pro model and still haven't broke my first). If your riding old As and complain about them breaking too quick gtfo because theyre not even in production anymore. Hell, i had a new a with a B mech last me over 6 months. I put that thing threw hell, stairs up to a 9, handrails, drops as tall as me, triple fingerwhips and a bunch of shit.

Fashion has nothing to do with scooters, if somone likes riding a scooter with no shirt dont give them shit for it, if theyre throwing down hammers its not gonna matter what theyre wearing.

Thread locked, because its not going to go anywhere.
