Go Pro HD?

I'm probably going to invest in one. I'm sick of my flip mino hd [with no motion stabilizer].

Also the Go Pro HD shoots in 60 fps which is perfect for capturing the deck spinning [most 30 fps cant quite capture tailwhips].

I just wanted to know if anyone had used one or had bought one?

60i deinterlaced is 30p.... so yeah. I shoot 30p, and sometimes 24p, and both capture tailwhips fine. Slowmo is a different story, you can't droped under like 80% without it getting choppy.

this camera looks insane based on the edits. better than any footage i've seen from a camera with anywhere near that price. it actually looks better than the footage i have with my hg20. i just don't know how that same footage would have turned out being edited on the same kind of software that i have or you might have.

its not just a helmet cam jackass. you can get it with the helmet attatchment and all, that's justy an added feature. And what makes a "real" camera better when the quality of this is amazing. I actually prefer the quality of this to most of my hg20's videos, which costs 2 to 3 times more.

yea, that would be good for you

but i just cant get over how good the quality is. on top of that i can't understand how cheap it is, and on top of that how weird it looks. the thing looks like a 10 dollar disposable camera, but apparrently performs better than most consumer hd cams. just goes to show that looks can be decieving.

FPS issues

I've edited a feature length film and am looking for something with a little more "punch." I think this camera provides the quality I am looking for but isn't going to cost me a grand.

I have all the editing software I'll need so that's not really an issue.... The college has a great multimedia lap here too...

i shoot in 30p and so do most professional action sport filmers and it looks fine...

yea, that would be good for you

i dont think this one will have very many manual settings or a good sensor

yea, i do understand that, but for the quality that it is you can't expect much else. I like the camera and all, but a screen on it would be nice. thats about all i'd care. And I agree with brian about the flips. I've seen them and filmed with them before i had the money for a nice cam and it didnt turn out very well. it sucked. lol

Brian you are absolutely right. Its great for vlogging/scenery but terrible for anything moving... At all.

That's why I'm looking for cheap alternatives like the go pro.

I don't have the resources [being a college student] to really go dump 1000/1500 for the proper camera I'm looking for.

But I think the go pro will look nicely enough if done correctly.

Well I can't really complain about the image, but you still get 1 chip, no zoom, no manual controls over the white balance, exposure and what not, you even don't have playback option unless you have your laptop with you everywhere. And you probably don't know how it performs in lowlight conditions? But for its money it's still worth it.
