grip tape problem

i just got a pro model yester day and i already modded it but when i went to put griptape on it ...it just peeled off....i used black magic griptape.....but i think it might have something to do with the little grooves on the deck......should i grind them off or what

no. but make sure you take the stock griptape off.

you shouldnt have to grind anything off. I got a new pro a few days ago and I use black magic grip aswell. what I do is peel the stock grip off and give the deck a light sand with the stock grip and then brush it off with my hand then once the new grip is on I put heaps of pressure on it to get the grip sticking to the deck better.

yep the original griptape is awful.....its like wet sand thrown on a piece of paper....i could brush it off with my fingers.....ill re grip it tomorrow and i wont pot the griptape close to the edge...it might help too ....but thanks alot guys

All u should have to do is take the stock grip off and clean off the deck with like a rag or something and then put the new grip on.

Theres really no point thats just how they made it.

My last bit of griptape was so warn down i took it off and my new bit hasnt arrived so im riding no grip, its suprisingly grippy; so the grooves might be doing something...

Yeah me to and I measure it out with a ruler so it looks hell neat

yea just make sure you don't measure to the very edge of the deck like in the pic above

HAHA you guys seriously measure it out?
your supposed the sand the edges until you see them show up then cut the lines with a razor its so much cleaner and easier that way

we are aloud to cut out our griptape anyway we want.

it looks way cleaner if you cut it. it only takes like 5 minutes and works wayyyyy better

haha there is noway how it could look better if you cut it

1) you cut exactly it out, then you need to be sure that you stick it really nicely so it would be center
2) sux.

3) sand edges and use razor like dylan says, owns forever.

You dont even need a razor, just something metal with a corner then just rub it on the edge for a while and it will rub through the griptape and be perfect every time. Way faster then measuring and cutting and centering.
