Its a tough question too answer, some say parkway is hardcore some say they are metal core, its all a bit confusing, listen to a band called "champion" and that can give you an idea of a more original hardcore sound.

i dont really think parkway is hardcore. to me there more of a metal/screamo sound.
hardcore imo is more of a deep voice scream not high pitched.

that is often called hardcore, but for the most part that's really not true. most "hardcore" bands today sound nothing like the bands that started hardcore. if there are breakdowns and kids flailing around like they're trying to do karate in the middle of a pit, it's probably not hardcore. just listen to some of the bands that were mentioned in this thread and they'll sound very different from what is considered hardcore today.
