headset problem

today my bearing from cane creek tank-jump broke so im trying to use a regular stock bearing.. i put on the bearing and a crown race i figured this was right then i put the pinch ring then the dust cover when i tighten my compression it doesnt spin at all pretty much plz help

sometimes the bearing reings are different sizes, or the balls themselves might be different, so it doiesn't tighten right

just use one stock cup and stock bearing. im using a cane creek s-3 bottom cup and a stock top cup and it works amazing

im using the stock top cup with a threadless sr fork. all you need is a spare bearing race and a compression ring. bike shops usually have those just lying around and will give it to you for me. if not, they would probably only charge you a couple bucks

Ok so I put in a stock cup put a upside down bearing race the what is a compression ring u mean the pinch ring cuz I have that already and will I have to ride without a dust cover. . I'm need to get a star nut anyway so Ill see if thy have bearings

yeah the compression ring is the same as a pinch ring. i run mine without a dust cover and its been goin strong for about 8 months. i just regrease it monthly
