Headset sucks.

my headset spins like once around with a barspin and that's it. it won'ts keep spinning. and when it does spin more, it spins hella slow. my old headset was sweet but it broke. how do you fix up crappy headsets to make them spin better?

I own SR.
Just because they don't spin fast does not make them crappy headsets. You have to find the balance between a fast, loose, shaky headset OR a slow, tight, solid headset. It just depends what feel you are going for and what tricks you will be trying but if you want them faster just take out the bearings, clean them with alcohol, wd-40 or gasoline... same with the bearing cups then re-GREASE everything and put it back together. To determine the speed of the spin just crank down the tension nut then spin the bars... if it is too slow then loosen it... to fast and wobbly then tighten it. Or leave them how they are and throw them harder.

if you took it apart at on time it could be possible that you tighten the bearing cup too much. I did that a few years ago but i didnt no what i was doing so it didnt spin at all.

buy an FSA headset. their disributor is seriously a 10 minute walk away from my house. just buy a BMX headset, it will spin better and shake/wobble/ be tighter and smoother than any razor headset.

what i do is take the bearings out, spray them with wd40, wipe them off with a paper towl, then put them back in with like 3 drops of oil on each. then screw the headset on until theres no wobble but spins nice and then tighten the top one down onto it as tight as it will go with some vice grips...

do most/all bmx headsets fit? i never even thought about that

Yeah you are right. messing with headsets can be hard sometimes. But I just use the same foldy piece and headset on a new scooter, once I break one.

no jake. your thinking of the STEM. the headset consists of the two cups and bearings, one on top and one on bottom, and they press into each end of the headtube. the headtube is the part the steer tube of the fork goes threw.

just to clear stuff up
