Help me pick parts for my son's scoot!

My ten year old is dying for more scooter parts for Christmas and I'm not sure what will actually help him ride better/more comfortably and what he just wants because of hype.

Right now he has a fairly beat up Razor pro model with everything stock except the brake and some nice grips. He really isn't doing any huge tricks or jumps, mostly trying to do barspins and tailwhips on flat ground but half the time he's just flinging the thing around. He's asked for a new fork and deck, but his whole downstem assembly (part that attaches bars to the deck and forks, etc, not sure what it's called for scooters I only rode BMX!) is pretty torn up and loosens easily. Also, it looks like for the price of some of the accessories separately I might be better off just buying him one of the lower end completes.

I'd love any advice on parts and recommendations on where to pick them up for a decent price, thanks!

^^ for what it sounds like he's doing so far that isn't a bad idea at all.. if you wanna spend more and get into better stuff (maybe down the road) once you know he's going to be riding for a while the district completes are really light and good starters and won't be super foreign compared to riding an ultra pro.. there are better scooters out there but that might be a good next step if you want to go ahead and graduate from a razor now

get him a district complete, lucky complete, or mgp complete, in my opinion..

by the way, my son turned 11 this past july, he started off riding the end of last year with a 100 dollar mgp complete, destroyed it in about 3 months, then i got him a mgp nitro/end of days (300) it was good for him, but all the kids in our neighborhood copied his scooter, so i went all out and bult him a 600+ dollar scooter, that will last him for years imo...

yes, a lucky or a district complete for a kid who throws his scooter and does tailwhips. Sounds good huh?

It does sound good. He wants his son to have a new scooter.

Check out these decent priced completes for beginners like your son:

Try to stay away from mgp.

I would just get a razor pro xx, some new grips, griptape, and maybe some metal core wheels.
if you feel like your son really needs a better complete than a razor pro xx, which he probably doesnt, you should look into the standard district complete, or the lowest cost lucky complete.

Again I will say this... Adopt me.

Honestly, every young kid should ride Razor scooters until they actually start breaking them. That's where we started; that's how everyone should start riding in my eyes. No sense in buying anything else until you can function on the most basic scooter...

To be honest, i don't see a problem with getting a scooter designed for people above your skill level. I could barely whip when i bought myself a v2i, phoenix scs custom and it was great, I learnt loads more on it than i ever would of done on the mgp i used to have. From what it sounds like, you are looking for a robust, not too expensive, beginner friendly scooter. This means you are best off buying a complete, like everyone else said. It really does depend on where you live as to what is the best value, easiest to find complete. The district complete is probably your best bet, then if you find it is rattley or annoying, maybe an SCS aswell. If you are getting the district, i would definitely go for the integrated version. Not only is it integrated but it also has 110mm wheels and much better bars. You have loads of other choices though, i would also advise looking at some of the higher level razors aswell, there are some great beginner completes.

get him the 100$ mgp's on amazon. They are cheap and even though its not much, it will fulfill his needs for now and kids of his age dont know the difference between quality and looks. So this will make his eyes big on christmas.
