Help out a n00b.

So basically the past couple of months Ive really picked up on scootering. Ive been in BMX for awhile so scootering has come pretty easy for me. I basically just do the bike tricks I know, and I basically just ride flat and a bit of street (gaps and drops and grinds). I can do stuff like flat 3s, tire taps, flat 540 taps, short mannys, barspins, flat whips, flat 180s, fakie, flat tuck no hands, 6 foot drops and etc. Just keeps me busy.

Problem is, Ive gone through 4 scooters (cheap razors, stuff like that). Wheels always flatten, bars break, decks crack.

Im ready to dish out some $$$ on something good. Maybe around $200, more if I have to. What do you suggest? What are some sites that sell complete customs or allow me to pick the parts and they build it? What brands are nice?

Im 6' tall and have size 13 feet if that helps.

Ive searched but cant find much.

Thanks,
Zach.

Get a Razor Pro Model and reinforce it using box reinforcements which you can find
at your local Home Depot or Lowes. You then need to bolt the folding mech and you
can find videos about that around here. Then buy some metal cored wheels which Eagles
make great ones. You can also buy some 1 piece bars, I recommend Inwards, C4's, and
PROTO Bars. The prices vary on the different bars though. Good luck!

Razor Pro:$50.00 http://www.amazon.com/Razor-Model-S...e=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1241993621&sr=8-1

Wheels:
2 EagleSport Metal Cores:$70.00-$80.00 http://www.c4scooters.com/ES+Snowballs/p60926_125789.aspx

Bars:
Inward-Scooters Bars:$49.00-$70.00 http://shop.inward-scooters.com/product.sc?productId=5&categoryId=3
C4 Bars:$50.00 http://www.c4scooters.com/C4+Bars+v11/p60926_125795.aspx
PROTO reTro Bars:$45.00 http://store.scooterresource.com/prreteeba.html

Thanks for the replies guys. What if I just got the ProComp Custom complete on TiteToyz.com? Its $185. If I got that, what wheels and etc should I pick and should I upgrade to 3 piece bars?

^^troof.

Get a razor pro, and do the necessary mods like bolt the mech, reinforcements, etc. and then just search around for other aftermarket parts that you might want, there's a whole bunch of companies around nowadays.

You can get the SZ Pro Comp Scooter if you want but not many people use them. Most people just buy a Razor Pro Model, bolt it, buy new bars and/or metal cores, and maybe a headset.

It's cheaper and better just do DIY. Get a razor pro model, bolts to bolt the foldy, some regular griptape, and if you want, some one peice bars (if you get a little wider size you may be able to kind of relate the bars to bike bars, even though bike bars are wider), some quality wheels, and some reinforcements (you can make those). Good luck!

best first post ive seen yet.

if you get the titetoyz scooter, get agent orange wheels or 110 yaks.
best choice would be to buy a pro and mod it to your liking as you break parts.
also, you said wheels flatten. thats from pushing too hard on the brake and sliding. try not to do that.

Ok from titetoyz.com Im gettin...

2 ES Metal Core Wheels - $72
Razor Pro Model - $55
Grip Tape - $5
SZ 1 Piece Pro Bars - $65

Then do I have to order extra bolts or something? And Im just goin to order the bars as wide as they come and then cut them down with a hacksaw to my preference. But How do I measure what height of bars I want? I have I scooter withe height I want already set, so what do I measure to make sure I get the same Height?

For height, measure from the very bottom of the bars (generally right at the bottom of the clamp) to the center of the crossbar.

He's right.

Scootering is a lot different than BMX. There aren't really any legit complete scooters. If you do decide to build up your own, a scooter will not cost over 450$ for an insane one.

I'd suggest buying a Razor Pro Model, and get some forks, bars, and wheels.

just get a pro mod, inward fork, buffs or inward one pieces, cd bars, etc. Bolt ur pro mod, and reinforce it. You will be good. And make sure if u get a new fork that u buy a new headset and compression because ur fork will move a lot.

Thanks Joe! And also, Zack, you can get bolts from titetoyz, inward scooters, or just buy them at your local hardware store. If you do a search, I'm sure you can find the right size bolts and how to put them in. And here's a good rule of thumb- only get better parts of things you break. So if you never break forks, don't get a new amazing one (although you should reinforce the fork anyways.)
