Homemade SCS, How-To

I was bored at school, so i tried to figure out how homemade scs's could be made. You will need: 1x Single Clamp, 2x Double Clamps, 1x Metal tube (described in pic), and access to a welder that can weld aluminum.

You will also need your bars, a threadless fork, a compression bolt and cap (or washer), and a starnut in that threadless fork.

First, weld the clamps together. Next cut the metal tube so that it only fits in the bottom double clamp. Finally, you can weld a bent sheet of metal on the outside to add strength. Its pretty much proto's scs for like around $15-25 depending on where you get your supplies. However, it isin't as strong (of course).

If the 2 clamps were welded together, then yes. But only for a while. There would be too much leverage force on the welds. It would get torn apart

OMFG i had the SAME EXACT IDEA! except you'd need a STEEL shim to help support the whole thing and youd have standard NOT HIC bars AND a single and double clamp so the fork and bars don't snap through that weak section that Michael and I thought of.

whatever, just a rough idea for you geniuses to build on. i was thinking if you weld the sht out of it, it could work, but yea, its NOT a replacement for SCS.

yours a smart dude, SOA compression works on this basic design slightly different we dont use star nuts, our compression isnt a scs so before any one goes on bout copy shit fk off, our system is a clamp, the forks are the key to our compression, its basicly a SCS Style system if you want to, or a HIC system or just a clamp, but with our forks it works as compression with out star nuts, but u all will have wait for the release date :)

i kno exactly how to do thiss lol or just get a solid block of aluminum and access to a drill press and wal lah getto knuks ftw

you need the bottom tube to be much more than one double clamp long.
look at the normal scs, the bottom half is two inches. a double clamp is just more than an inch. make the bottom shim 2 inches long.

had exactly the same idea, except im in the UK so i only have access to jdbug stock clamps, these are 0.5 inches long so six makes 3 inches, baby SCS size, once the slit is cut off your bars, cut this down to 1.5, weld it in and you have your ridge. also to work on the weakness, you could pin it. OR another idea was converting a mutts quad clamp :)

i drw out the idea
