Houston Downtown Skatepark.

Please don't move this into the Skatepark thread. But Yeah, theyre finishing it in april, local houston mayer Joe Jamail donated 1.5 million for it to be completed. However, the Non Profit Organization that started it all is called PUSH, ( www.pushhouston.com ) , they have said repeatedly that they lobby for SKATERS and only SKATERS! As of now, bikes/scooters will not be allowed in, please help, take time to email even just one of the email adresses below so we are allowed into the largest freepark in the united states. Thank you.

dear city of houston,
i think it is wrong for you not to let scooters in your park. many kids scooter and have no where to ride and get bored riding in small parking lots or driveways. so building a skatepark without alowing scooters and bikes in is only allowing half the extreme sports community in and that is unfair. please, for our sake, let scooters into your park. there is a big extreme scene and there are alot of scooterers out there. thanks for your time.
Thanks,
Jeff Lukaszeski

danny, i love you for doing this. but if its a freepark, doesn't that mean there's no staff or security to kick scooters out? and btw, can I get a scooterinsanity shirt?

well its most likely going to be patroled considering how valuable all that land is to houston and there will be a regular park there also, and contact matt for SI shirt he'll hook you up, thanks jeff also <333.

edit - This was my email, but i edited it a bit, and sent it to every email adress.

Hello, i have recently heard that bikes/scooters will not be allowed into the skatepark. Whatever you think of us is fine, however, there is a large scooter scene in houston, and we would be willing to go to meetings or do whatever so we can get into this new park, just to show you that there is a scene. I have provided videos of different riders from all around below, please do not ignore my email, and also people contact me back regarding this issue letting me know what can be done.

Here are a few videos.

As you can see, scooters are not just a little kids toy most people think of them as, we are serious about this, and for more information on scooters, you can visit www.scooterresource.com , browse around if you please, but just please let us know what can be done, thank you.

Daniel.

Thanks for your interest in the Houston's upcoming public skatepark. Unfortunately, Texas laws are such that bikes and scooters are not covered for limited liability as with skateboarding. By excluding bikes and scooters from Statute cp.004.00.000075.00, public entities are forced to limit bikes and scooters from using their action sports facilities. The first start to getting a public facility for bikes and scooters would be to change the statute wording so that bikes and scooters are included.

Hope this helps. See attached for copy of the above mentioned Statute.

Best regards,
