How do I lock THIS folding mech?

You will need these tools. Two 5mm allen key or wrenches depending on your bolt of choice. Three rear B axles, or 3 half inch axles, and a flathead screwdriver.

Use the flathead screwdriver to remove the C clips that hold the folding mech axles in place. Put it under one of the sides and push it up (towards you). it will pop off fast, so be careful.

Once you have done this, remove the axles. These axles are attached to prings within the folding mech. So be sure to rip it out or use the flathead screw driver to stretch the spring out.

Once you have gutted the folding system this is all that you should have removed.

Once you have done all of this, just slip the axles in through these areas. Depending on the axle, you may need spacers. I find that sometimes you don't have them, and old bearings work real well. I don't usually go out buying spacers so this is a good resort. Once tightened down enough the bearing wont spin and your folding system shouldnt move. I recommend a half inch axle to go through the folding system as shown. It clamps it a lot more than a B axle so it's much more reliable.

Pretty much self explanitory, common sense on how it works.

1 just go in the store with your scoot and look in the bolt section put them in if they fit snugg titen them and walk out prob solved

ok, just buy a 2 1/2" by 3/8" bolt, and a 2 1/2" by 5/16" bolt, with washers, and in the picture from joshs post with the finished folding mech, the top left bolt is optional, but if you want to use it, its another 5/16" although, i have gotten 3/8" bolts into a b folding mech in that 3rd spot..im pretty sure thats wahts on my scooter right now

thats the same thing i did... just bring ur scooter into the hardware store and tesst the bolts out... its easy...

If you dont lock it your scooter turns into a big shakey mess at the folding mech and your fork gets alot more stress on it. Your scooter feels sooo much more solid with it locked. If you gut out the head cup you reduce a ton of noise too

dude by locking the meck it is creating more stress on the fork but it is still the way to go when i get a new scot i dont even ride it until it is locked and griped and blah blah

what happens when you have a locked folding mech and a wooden dowel crammed into your fork threads? where does the stress go then?

Edit* Forgot to include anything actually usefull...anyways Bk, i used to jam shit in there to stop my fork from snapping..and then id say the stress goes straight to the T Tube...ive snapped a few tubes right above the fork..like the fork was fine, but the Tube jes snapped...asshole tubes..

I never had truble with my forks. I snapped 2 in my whole life. Ive killed 3 t tubes and lots of decks.
