Why don't you share? I'd love to know

All u need is the tubing the same size outide diameter as your crossbar. Cut it down to an inch but u dont want it to be longer than 2 inches or it takes away from your bar strength
And you need a wooden dowel that fits into your bars very tightly. Its okay to get it bigger cuz then you can sand the wooden dowel down.. Basically hammer/stuff it ito the 1 inch piece then hammer/stuff that into the end of your bars. Maybe some glue on it so they dont slide

Ahhhh, I see. I wouldn't want to make them too long with that method but I'm gonna try to add an inch on each side

Youll be fine with one inch and wood. Anywhere greater id say use some smaller tubing and put some jb weld which will act as a sort of permanent adhesive

Couldn't you then after doing this weld it where the two pieces of metal meet?
