How do YOU support the scootering scene?

A recent thread made me think of this. And I've wanted to post it for a while.

I'm talking about you, the person reading this right now, how do you support the scooter scene as a community, as a whole?

I don't make parts or sell anything to other kids, but I do drive to parks all across New Jersey and chill with the locals. I've even hit up three or so Pennsylvania parks. Why do I do this? Why drive so far when I live walking distance from Hackettstown park? (Other than the fact that the manager bites a big one)

To get scootering noticed! I'm a 19 year old dude riding a decked out dialled scooter. When the locals see me, they get confused. They ask millions of questions about my parts, what tricks I can do etc. This obliterates the whole "kiddy toy/little kids snaking everyone" mantra everyone seems to have at these parks.

What do I do? I go ballistic. I throw every good trick I have and I answer every question they have to ask. Hell, I even let kids ride my spare scooter sometimes. They're probably used to shitty scooters like new As. When they ride one pieces, razor pros, metalcores, they get a different view of scooters in general.

I don't argue with the locals; because then I'd look like a dick. I am their guest, I respect their rules (sometimes ;)) because I am in their house now. I don't trash parks or smack talk, I simply wait my turn, throw some tricks, then chill. Talk with everyone else, compliment their tricks, etc. People respect that. When they see you on a scooter being chill, they will respect not only you, but they'll respect the sport aswell.

When people think scooter kid, they think 6 year old little snake riding a wobbly POS razor new A. When you ride up in a full set up, they normally ask simple questions, right? They don't know what an SCS is, or where to get these parts. I tell them everything they ask. How it works, where to get parts, etc.
This is why I go to these little parks everywhere.

I basically put on mini-demos wherever I go. Some parks I've been to where scooters aren't well known:
West Windsor, Hamilton (when the guard isnt there), Princeton, Nazareth, Stroudsburg, Sparta, Small Empire, Randolph, Hopatcong... the list goes on.

I know some major companies here that sell parts locally and do demos, that's the kinda shit we need. More big ride days where an ass ton of riders group up, invade some park and just chill.

Kinda got carried away but yeah. Hoping some manufacturers post in here or something.

That right there. That is exactly what I do as well. It's almost like you wrote out my position in the scooter scene. I bring friends with me wherever I go to help out with it. And I almost always try to give out as much good information as possible on this site.

I educate kids on scooters on how to ride the park correctly and to not get in the way of people, chill with any semi-good rider i come across (there aren't many pros in my part of Virginia), and give out parts and repair advise to anyone who needs it.

Michael, I always ride with someone. I bring Ralph and my buddy John with me almost everytime we sesh somewhere. Lately my brother has lost interest though.

David, I'd gladly ride with you if I have off. I've never been to FDR and don't plan on going. But woodward philly and Maple shade are always options for me. As well as any other park in that area

, and give out parts and repair advise to anyone who needs it.

Straight up man. some kid had a flat spotted new A wheel, so I hooked him up with an old A wheel, good condition. I've also bolted people's foldies If i had the parts with me. Even gave one kid a pair of stock bars because his were bent

I personally provide good information to any small kids that are asking questions, but my main position is taking as good of photographs as I can of people throwing down, get those shots out there, and shed some light on the sport. I've gotten a bunch of questions and sick comments about people changing their opinion about the sport on a whole bunch of sites, even hater sites like biking and skating sites.

I help out kids all the time. That's all I did at SD4 this year. I gave some axle spacers for a TSI deck to some kid(his name is rusty shackleford on here). There was a kid whose dad drove him all the way down from San Fransisco, and he broke something on his scoot right away and he couldn't ride so I hooked him up with some free parts. I help out as much as I can.

haha i'm pretty much a mix of all these things. i give out ALOT of free stuff to people. stock forks, bars, wheels, bearings, tonnnns of stuff. even decks sometimes. also, i make scooter parts. so yeah i guess i'm considered a manufacturer haha. helping out the scooter scene is the main reason i started TORN because the more companies and the more variety we have, the bigger our sport will get.

Well I made a clothing company..I got over selling stuff I eman i will if ppl wanna buy it. but I gave out all my shirts and stickers. HardLine and Kota Sports threw me a shit load of scooters and parts to give out over the next few months. I always help little local kids out you know anything I can do I do for them. It was nice when I was little and Ricky Wernicke hooked me up with some stuff. I wanna do that for kids.

i buy used A and B razors at the goodwill and give them away
and you PRACTICALLY INVENTED THE ONE PIECE DECK AND OWN ONE OF THE MOST LEGIT COMPANIES OUT THERE WHO HAS MADE AMAZING STRIDES IN THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING INTEGRADED, CHANGABLE DECKPLATES, REIENFORCED NECKS, FLEXFENDERS AND MORE
but you know, buying a and b models is good too :)
you're too humble!
