How Does Proto Threadless Fork Work?

Ok so the plan is,

Im saving up for a proto threadless fork off skaterhq. I have my stock headset. And some one piece bars with two slits on opposite sides of eachother. It says on the skater hq site that the proto fork is designed to work with the brass knuckles.

What do i need to get this fully working on my scooter?

if you get a brass knuckle it makes your bars taller, but you need to cut your bars down with a hack saw

you need the fork, threadless headset, and a compression system, if you get the knuckles you have to cut 2 inches off your bars i think i could be wrong. OR you run a seatpost clamp as ur compression system

Ok so if i get a threaded fork would i be able to use my stock headset and clamps?

all parts are basically designed to be compatible.
you will want to cut the slits off of your bars though, since there will be np fork tube to support it on the inside. that will also make it so your bars are the same height as before. you will need to have a starnut installed in your fork though in order for the compression to work.

For threadless you use a compression. First of all you need a threadless headset. If you don't wanna deal qith the Proto Brass Knuckle - SCS you could go inverted.

SCS - Threadless fork, threadless headset, starnut installed in fork, and cut 2 inches off your bars/ no slit on your bars. You slide your fork onto your headset. Stick the SCS on the fork, and tighten the compression cap onto the starnut. Then you stick your bar with no slit and 2 inches off of them. You make it straight and tighten the Scs.

ICS aka Inverted - Threadless fork, threadless headset, Starnut installed in bars, slits in bars, and you use the compression bolt going threw your fork connecting/screwing into your bars/starnut. After you connect you clamp your bars.

you need a threadless headset, go to any bike shop, and you need a compression system. when you buy the fork just talk to the people at skater hq im sure they will help you

Ok ive decided id rather go threaded much less hassle and money. I dunno if i saw one or not but is there such thing as a proto striker threaded fork?

Ok ive decided id rather go threaded much less hassle and money. I dunno if i saw one or not but is there such thing as a proto striker threaded fork?

There is but we don't really sell them because we don't really believe in them. We made a whole box full then decided not to sell them so they are chillin here.

There really is nothing better than threadless. It does cost a little more up front but it is worth it in the end. Plus there are tricks to get your scooter setup for threadless without spending tons of money on parts which makes it nice too if you are planning on building up a solid scooter over a longer period of time.

Skater HQ only carried Strikers and I'm not sure how much they sold them for. We are getting a new AUS distributor soon though so you guys will be able to get stuff easier and hopefully cheaper.
