So basically I just take out the bolts of my red tilt scs; put it in a plastic bag filled 1/4 with oven cleaner; shake it for a minute; the whole thing will turn raw?
that doesn't seem right, do I use paint remover first or what.

it is right, but it might take a little longer than a minute, depending on the stuff you use.

but how does the bag method work

i explained it pretty clearly. the chemicals of the cleaner will take off the color and make the part completely raw, like how it was before any finish was applied to it

the chemicals in oven cleaners must be like acidic if they're strong enough to wipe out color completely. you sure it won't damage the part at all?

yes, many people including myself have done it without any problems.
