I know stock headsets suck but...

Errrhhmmmm
I used to ride a stock headset all the time and not have too many problems but right now mine is just so fucked. No matter how much i tighten it it just keeps coming loose and making these weird popping noises. Like i put the bottom lock nut wit the race all the way down so its tight and no movement then i put the top lock nut on and screw it down till it meets the other one. Then i get channel locks and hold the bottom one while i tighten the top. I make sure my bars are all the awy down then clamp. And at first its fine. But then like 15 minutes later its mad loose and makin noises.

And dont come in here and say "Get a bmx headset" cause no shit im working on it but in the mean time someone help who knows how to run a good stock headset?

put loctite on the threads. and when you tighten the to headset nuts, tighten them together.

I ride a stock headset,Cosby did it for me, and it is better than a lot of my friends headset who have like "FSA's dude!11!!!"
It is the nicest thing ever.
Cosby did the following to my headset:
Put a crown race upside down over the top bearings, put a wedge on top of the crown race and tighten it will only the small bolt. NOT BOTH BOLTS!!!
It is so perfect!!!!!!!!!

i tighten mine as much as a want, and then a bit more, then put the top bolt on super tight. then i but 2 more bolts on it as tight as i can. then put the bars on super flush with the last bolt. its perfect.

did you clean everything?
If my headset starts sucking i bathe it in windex/alcohol.

then clean out my cups with a few q-tips.
