With the clamp you just hold it over the bars and tap it on with a hammer, or just push it on.
With the brake you hold the brake in place and put the bolt through about a quarter of the way. Then you get the little spring and put that through the bolt. Then put the bolt the rest of the way through and screw on the nut and tighten it.
