I don't care much about it. I feel like it should not be such a huge deal. All they are doing is going from one point to another. I could care less. It's not like we have to many people in our country or anything?

I hate illegal immigrants, I really do.., but I respect the actual immigrants who had to work hard and earned the right to live in America.

well maybe the people who are supposedly getting their jobs "taken away" by illegals should think about the bigger picture. If you are an employer, who would you rather take in, some fat, lazy slob who works minimal shifts, does a mediocre job, and complains about his work day in and day out and demands to do all that for a steep price, while on the other hand, they can employ some kid from south america who is willing to work just as hard, if not harder, for less money. Maybe if people don't want their jobs taken away, they should work hard to ensure that they are the best for that job. If you lose your job to an illegal immigrant from mexico, then you deserve it because obviously you weren't working hard enough in the first place to be chosen for that job over some illegal immigrants. Just my two cents pretty much. I personally think that if Americans in particular spent as much time trying to fix the problem as they do complaining about it, then it probably wouldn't be a problem anymore...

thats bullshit, it doesn't matter how hard you work, the job is still going to an illegal alien because employers can pay them half of minimum wage and they're still happy about it. i have a couple neighbors that are illegal, they're wonderful, but if they had taken a job away from me or my parents i would be angry as hell. this city by me, hazleton for any of you that watch the news, was a nice city until hordes of immigrants started moving in. the crime rate skyrocketed and the city became a shithole.

so although they may be beneficial in some areas (eg california, which would die without them), i'm still against illegal immigrants as a whole.

very true, but some of the immigrants will send our money back to their country to support their familys..

the way i see it is if you are working in the US then keep the money in the US, and show some respect for the country that is giving you the opportunity.
I dont see why their family couldnt come into the us so the money syats in here, its only helping us both out.. but they should learn to speak english aswel. they are coming into our country and they should learn our language.

Its like someone coming into your house and you ask them to take their shoes off, then after that they say "oh well where i come from we keep our shoes on."
Its not like we take away their right to "wear shoes in their own house" (speak spanish) we just expect them to "take their shoes off when they come into ours" (learn the english language also)

its that simple lol

In AUS it's alright. Since most immigrants are from east timor and PNG, I kind of think they should be allowed to come in since they live in a country with rebel soldiers and is war-tore which is pretty sad.

i think we should try to make an effort to make it easier for immigrants to enter the country legally, to become an american citizen. I'm not cool with them coming in illegally and taking our jobs. I have basically the same viewpoint as Sean.

not necessarily. Most illegal immigrants (from Mexico in this case) also happen to not speak much english, etc, etc. This is not advantageous in the workplace, but it is a setback for many employers. If you work hard, show that you feel positively about your job, get along with your co-workers, and show that you can get the job done efficiently, then your employers have no reason whatsoever to replace you with an unskilled foreigner. On the other hand, if you are negative about your job, and don't work efficiently and effectively, etc, etc. then if I was your employer I'd be more than happy to replace you with some Mexican who is willing to work for a bit less.


And john, well said, I agree with everything you said there. It's a problem with immigration nearly everywhere, especially here in Canada, which claims to be a "cultural mosaic", rather than a "melting pot." This non-assimilative approach to immigration over here makes the divide between cultures slightly bigger, and I know what this shit is like. Here's an example: my friend's chinese neighbor does not know how to speak ANY english whatsoever, and she's been in Canada for quite a while now. A few weeks ago, her husband, who is really old and practically paralyzed and can't move fell off the couch and she couldn't get him back on. It took her a full FIVE minutes of making noises and hand gestures to get my friend to help her inside. Shit, what if the guy had a fucking stroke or a heart attack or something???
