Is learning a martial art still worth it?

In martial arts, one is taught skills and techniques to defend themselves against attacks. However, this is only limited to hand-to-combat and one opponent fighting them at a time. In this day and age, people use weapons of all kinds to attack each other. If no weapons are used, it's typically a group of people attacking one person. Is learning a martial art (any martial art) still worth it to defend yourself against such attacks? Your opinion.

I learnt Wado Ryu for 5 years and got to Black Belt, i think of it as more as a confidence booster, and in the process you can still learn to fight people with weapons
