For those that don't know, that's Irish for I like to Scooter. Irish or Gealige is the 'Official' language of Ireland, but when I say 'official' I mean it's called the Official, but not practiced, during the famine here the British (Rich people)spoke English and weren't starving (as their diet didn't really include potatoes as a pivot) and the Irish (poor people) spoke Irish and were starving (as pretty much everything they ate was potato in some form). Naturally many did what was becoming common in those days, learn English and head for a new country. So many people learned english and went to America, Austrailia, Liverpool, Canada; basically fled the Famine. A few stayed and stuck it out, but made sure that their children knew English as their primary language, in case another famine happens later. And that's why if you come to Ireland, you will hear english.
They do teach Irish in the (Catholic) schools, and it is spoken as the primary language In many parts of Donegal (God bless Donegal).
