Just shooting out a message (seriously)

Just want to shout out to everyone...

If you are drinking, and you have a car and it is present, please GET A RIDE HOME.

No matter what. Alcohol/drugs are not allowed on this site (for the most part) but regardless, just take the advice. Even if you have gotten away with it before, that DUI pull over will happen sometime. It is not worth the risk or your life. And no I didn't get DUI or anything, just had serious talk with a friend and just want you guys to know.

Any of you younger guys that don't have your license yet, I hope you guys take this post seriously and remember it if the situation comes up. DUI vs telling your parents you drank and didn't drive is glory to their ears, even if they ground you. Those cups of water you drink aren't going to sober you up. Calling and saying you are staying out/getting a ride home is the best thing you could ever do. Your life is more important than the car.

If the situation comes up sometime, whenever, I hope to god this post will ring in your head and you make the right decision. I hope you guys can appreciate this post instead of taking it as a joke.

My friends dad was out at a party, and he was drinking and he was driving home with a couple of mates and they crashed into a tree, 3 of them were instantly killed and the driver was put into a comber. So its not just your life your risking its others as well.

Thanks for the post Brian. There is nothing more stupid than drinking and driving. It can ruin your life, your familys lives, and the lives of people you dont even know. Not drinking and driving also includes not getting in a car with someone who has been drinking themselves and trying to convince them not to do it themselves, even if that includes forcibly removing the keys from their possesion.

My dad has had multiple DUIs in the past and along with that came a huge amount of legal burdend for my mom since he used our address not his on the police statement. We almost lost our house over it and we had nothing to do with it. He is since sober and slowly building our trust again.

I am of age and drink almost every night but i have never once felt the need to drive anywhere when i was wasted. Although i have missed out on some crazy party shenanigans do to my choices not to drink and drive, I would rather miss out on a couple of parties now than the rest of my life either because I killed myself or someone else due to poor decision making.

PS If you are getting drunk at a friends house ask if you can stay before you start drinking and save yourself a heap of worries in the end.

i guess drinking and driving and smoking and driving must be completely different, cause ive been in cars driven by someone high and they drove fine. never been in a car with someone drunk though so i cant really compare the two

yes the two are completely different. but for the sake of this thread getting locked for drug content or w/e i'll just leave it at that.

Yeah it is. When you are drunk you completely loose coordination and don't realize shit you are doing.
