Let me tell you about my day/What I think this sport lacks

Today I grabbed my ipod, put it on shuffle and just went out to ride. I brushed up on my flat land riding; No Footed Tailwhip, Shiffty Tailwhip, 360 Healwhip, Front Side 360 Indy, etc. I rode for a long time. For the most part I was alone but after awhile I met up with my friend Tubbz. It was the best time I have had scootering in awhile. Also, I am a bowl/park rider. I think that there are a lot of people getting bored with scootering. This thread is to encourage you to try new stuff.

(continued. Im using my psp)

If you have a lot of tricks, work on your style. One thing this sport lacks is style. There are some really stylish riders but the majority has little or none. If you need to learn new tricks, learn more tricks. Forget trick trends and ride the way YOU ride.

we need more tricks.
and im not talking abotu those like whip inward catch to backflip. not those hard tricks beginners cant do. when beginners make vids, they get flamed cuz all they can do is tailwhip, barsping, 180, and 360. we need more tricks like bartwist

I got style for miles, but dont ask me to do more than two whips, haha.

But i agree, sometimes people need to get just as frustrated with doing tricks ugly as they do with not being able to land them. A rider with style is more fun to watch than someone whom has a huge repertoire of tricks but none of which look clean.

(not hatin on tech btw, style plays into that too bigtime)

I go out every night and ride the bowl, getting my list of tricks bigger and making as many lines as I can before I have to go home. Then usually I go to the carpark with my buddies at night and see what weird stuff I can come up with on the mostly flat space.

I'm always trying new things wherever I go.

any terrian
and i dont do stupid trick trends
i just do whats fun

only tricks i do are the ones i find fun, if i dont find teh trick fun i dont bother learning it, i dont care how my riding looks aslong as it feels good.

I agree with most of you, and scootering does need new tricks. If I can only do a certain trick ugly I don't count it as legit. If you watch big skate videos you'll see that pretty much every rider has style.

Another thing that I don't dig, I call gymnastic scootering. That's where a rider has multiple types of scooter flips and flips in one line and through out the whole video. Expecialy when they are mad low and sketchy. Those tricks are cool but I feel like some people think they have to do that stuff

to be good.

As for scootering needs more tricks, I would like to see more coping stalls and grinds. I want to learn back lips on coping ramps. I can already smith, back smith, back 50.50, and front 50.50. I work on coping grinds and stalls a lot.

Let me tell you about this thread/What I think this thread lacks... effective motivation for people that are bored with the sport.

This thread has some of the worst criticism of the sport i have ever read though.

Yeah, look at the size difference between scootering and skateboaring. The people you see in skate videos ride for a company and making a living off of it. They aren't gonna pick up random kids. You are watching random kids videos on this website. The people that do have style, you know their names, they are sponsored by the big companies. Go watch random kiddie videos of people skating on youtube and tell me how much style you find on there.

This stuff is boring as hell in videos. Plenty of people do it already, but to watch someone ride a mini ramp in a video is such a waste of time, go watch competition runs.

Good points Brian Boston. But I think coping stall & grind combinations can be cool to watch on a video if theyre crazy AND clean. I just want to remind people that u can use coping for more then just to feeble stall to set up for a big trick. I see a lot of half pipe runs with only air tricks. Doing tricks in and out of lip slides or rail slides r hard as crap. I didnt mention back lip slides cause I dont think very many people can do em haha. This thread should giv pple some new ideas frm my perspective.

Watch a mini pipe run from anyone on the Proto team. Dan Barrett and Elmer kill it with like any stall you can think of. My point is, if i drop money on a DVD, i don't want to watch someone doing stalls on a mini ramp. Sheit i barely wanna see any park riding, street is where the originality is.

Boston speaks the truth. Street is where the money is. Theres no such thing as a definite terrain, thats the beauty of street. Everything in front of you can be challanged by your state of mind.

Adding on to the whole fun tricks thing. How many people actually took the time to learn multiple heelwhips?(excluding you non american guys who commonly learn them that way) The heelwhip is like one of those tricks that is barely worth learning. I know some guys like them but honestly nobody loves them. It's hard to tell the difference anyway unless ur doing it. Why? Because their not as fun. Or worth it unless you like that sense of accomplishment.

its hard to tell when most people do a heelwhip becaause most people have a kind of halfway ski stance. I know people that make heelwhips look sick, and it looks a lot different than their tailwhip.
