lighting on camera

when i take the picture inside or out, it hasnt been really sunny since ive gotten it, it is almost black. what setting when shooting manually do i have to change? by the way i have a d40

shutter speed, ISO, F.stop...if you don't want to have to adjust the ISO put it on auto..just don't plan on getting the best results that you could. same with white balance..and then once you figure things out more you can switch them back to manual and have full control.

chances are you have the shutter speed too high..or the f.stop or both ..try using 320 for shutter and 8 for the f.stop and then adjust from there

ok on the top of your camera on the lcd look at the number in the top left (next to battery) thats your shutter speed...turn the dial on the back of your camera (atleast i think..I have a d70s so it might be different) and that will change it.

bump! ok wen i turn the dial, it only changes like 24 to 36 and no higher and i dont no how to change the f stop

and just so your not confused, i mean go find your users manual, and read it. adjust settings using it as a guide and find out what you need to change to get desired results in your pictures.

Yea do what dibbs said..I cant really help you much more because like I said, I have a d70s..and how you change settings is different.
