I've been getting heavily into prog metal these days. Shit is nuts to listen to if you actually play guitar. So stuff like protest the hero, trivium, artcell, tool, etc.

thank you! TRIVIUM! everyone keeps bashing them, but if u truly appreciate good solos then u should shut ur mouth and listen to them ( i would recommend torn between scyla and charybdis, crazy ass solos)
and protest the hero shreds pretty damn good too

ehh tbh, never got into dream theater for an extended period of time. I mean, GREAT band, probably the best musicians out there today, no questions asked, it's just they are so good that listening to them makes me feel like I suck and makes me want to quit playing guitar altogether - I like listening to music that gets me pumped and makes me want to jam haha


I do listen to LTE a bit though I guess.

I think the main reason people give trivium shit is because they suck live, well they are getting a bit better since they released shogun, but to be fair, they are kinda a new-ish band, so they don't have the experience yet.
