For the past couple of years I've been riding I've met a bunch of people. This ranges from just like n00bs you see at the park who cant ollie to even meeting Arto Saari at one point. Do any of you guys have like the local legends (skateboarders/bmx..) where like its like they are pro they get followed all over the park? Well around here there is a skate team called Team Tonic. Bunch of really cool dudes who are really good at skating, and I've seen them skating street in my town a few times and I'll see them at the park a lot. The past few times I've been to the park they were just like blown away with me like boosting the spine and shit, weeman killin the whole place. I had a whip airout with a big catch right in front of one guy and he was like "thats so sick". Anyway, so I'll kind of give you a little backround info... My friend dropped me off at the park then left to go fuck some girl but came back like an hour later and was ready to go... and then his car couldnt find a gear. He thought he dropped his tranny. But it was just some bar or whatever idk. He was calling for help and shit and i was like "I dont mind being stranded here at the park" haha.. so yeah for like 2 hours they are trying to get people and im just riding and those people from Tonic are there. Of course they are getting followed around the whole park by all these kids who are like omg i can kickflip. I guess they were watching me and shit but i didnt really know. Well at 10 when the park lights get turned off my friends still hadn't gotten a ride for us so i asked one of the skaters if I could get a ride. He was really cool about it and on the way home we were talking about just random shit how like he kickflipped an 11 but i thought it was crazy huge... and hes like "you've never seen it?" and so we go check that out... and its a huge steep 11 ill probably do soon... killer on the scooter though.. stairs are monsterous haha. And we stopped and i showed him the hospital gap (the one i bashed my knee off) and he was like "damn this is so much bigger than that pier gap" and yeah he'll try it as soon as the bush's die because they are massively in the way haha. But yeah somewhere on the way home he gave me his number and shit and was telling me about all these spots he knew of and we should go hit them up sometime and whatnot. I dont know if any of you have ever heard of "Chautaqua Institution" its like some famous place around here that like bill clinton went to and a bunch of other smart people. idk... anyway there is good spots there. And in conclusion, just really weird how you can gain peoples respect by just riding, and then actually get to know the "local legends" besides just that they are good at skating. Does anyone on here have like local people who are amazing and EVERYONE follows them? Ugh annoying. But they're cool people.
Oh and sorry this turned into like a big story... basically just wanted to say that scooters are getting way more respected around here because even 2 years or 6 months ago these people wouldn't even said hello to a scooter rider. Anyone getting up that respect level where they are? Local legends? idk... post up some stories or something. Turn this thread into what you want it to be.
