Lucky smx

I might trade my friend for his lucky smx, but i need to know a few things first. First of all, i do not ride pegs but i have heard that smx is only good if you ride pegs. Why is that? And does it get in the way alot since its so bulky?
One last thing, would i need to cut my fork if i have the smx and tilt scs on a reventon?

EDIT: it might be a vertx smx since it does not have the lucky logo on them

It kind of feels like a peg when you're doing smith grinds , but it doesnt get it the way that much.
It doesn't really get in the way since its big but it's sort of big so it's easy to like scrape the bottom part of the fork legs.
if you're running tilt scs you would have to cut it cause i had to use spacers with a tilt scs when i had mine.

I have a couple of question, what are you trading him ad what fork did you have before.
