Making your own forks :D

Hey, I need some help on making my own scooter parts, starting with forks. I understand the basic design, but what I dont understand is the compression system. It goes from your bars, into the forks through the headset. How does the bolt from the star nut stay in your forks? Can someone explain


PS: My dad owns a car shop so i can get all of the parts made

the star nut needs to be installed into the bars (about 2 inches from the bottom of the bars).
the bolt goes from the bottom of the forks through the fork tube and screws into the star nut.

the bolt goes from the fork to a starnut in ur bars
there is a tiny hole in the center of the fork
and thats where the bolt goes through

not the middle of the fork tube, the bottom.
on inward zero off sets its a little welded on washer at the bottom of the fork tube.
