MGP Nitro Shim stuck

I have no clue how this happened, this is my first time ever taking the bars off of my Nitro and when I pulled them off the shim came with it....
I've been trying to get it out for hours and it's starting to piss me off.
What's the best way to get it out or some methods you guys have used before?

I used to put a shim in my oversized bars when i was using threaded(dumb idea but it worked) and i just got a small pair of needlenose pliers and stuck it in the slit and tugged.
