RUP with minor upgrades like headset and bars would be your thing for a new rider.. I ride the rup now. Its the lighest deck and very durable.

I would go for a RUP with minor upgrades, or if you could, an mgp with minor upgrades.

the MGP depends on how heavy he is.. i was 115-120 when i tride to ride an MGP and could barley do anything bc of the weight.. the RUP would probly be best

you get use to riding with weight, dont let that make your mind.
