Aluminium sounded normal to me, isn't it just American's that say a-loom-i-num.
The way you said Madis was very entertaining though, I always assumed it was pronounced with an english accent for some reason.

While tripping outside Estonia, i tend to respond to the english pronounciation of my name also, because it's easier for others. I tried to teach a few NY kids to pronounce my name right, but didn't work out that well since the "A" is like the "A" in the word "car" but really short, and the "I" is like the "EE" in "cheese" but shorter. It's hard to explain in text.
