first you can get a trv950 on ebay for like half the price of that jvc. then you could have money to get a nice fisheye too.

You might as well compare apples to oranges.

TRV950:
- SD
- MiniDV
- A lot of moving parts (More can break)
- Need to constantly buy tapes
- 4:3 filming

HD7:
- JVCs are generally shitty.
- HD
- 16:9
- Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
- HDD has moving parts so internally it can still break.

Scrap both, get something made by Canon. Unless you actually WANT SD, then go for the trv950 or a Panasonic GS series camera.

Ok, ya i just re checked it about price because i just got a job and my parents said they'd help me out. And i think im going to get the JVC because its newer. And if it says the lens filter size is 46mm would i have too get a 46 to 43 step down ring so i could attack opteka 43 mm fisheye? Sorry with the questions.

Get a Nikon Fc-e9 fisheye. It's 46mm.

But like I said, your best bet would be to get something else. Neither of those two cameras are very good.

cmos is fine, sensor type isn't something you should worry about until you get more into filming and figure out what you want in a camera. You said you want good quality and colors. Get a Canon.

if your gonna spend that much with a camera get like a sony vx2000 with a opteka death lens

go with the trv for sure! Its reliable and way better and cheaper than the JVC.
and sensor type is important whether hes big into it or not.

to answer your question on cmos v 3ccd:
well lets think about it im fairly sure a trv950 have 3 1/5" ccd's. thats really good, more colors per image etc.
the jvc probably has a small cmos sensor, and while it might be cmos, its only one small one, so the colors will be less dynamic. go with the trv jason.

TRV 950s are extremely good if you treat them well. Use a capture camera and dont mix tape brands. Stick with sony preimums. Also if you want to get the best colors out of the camera make sure to use the manual settings.

TRVs are 3CCD and get colours that are very close to sony vx1000s. The reason being is that the sensor is almost the exact same as a vx1000. It may not take a few hits very well but Video Electronics has your back over at skateperception.com so if you go the money they will fix it.

The jvc isn't great. I would definitely go with a Canon of some sort if you're going hd. Canon HV20s go for like $200 and if you supply them with HDV tapes you can get 720p running at 60p. Definately worth it if you're looking into a HD camcorder.

hey a quick question when your capturing and and it drops frames is that a problem on the heads or with what i capture with. any suggestions or recommendations would be gladly accepted.

Broccoli its Chrysanthemum Flowers by mf doom i believe,

David it really depends. If the camera that you're capturing off is really old and beat up it could be the heads or tape deck it in. The actually camera being used to film also could have dirty head so the tape doesn't communicate well with the heads. Your computer that the software is being used on to capture also could maybe not handle the amount of data coming in and dropped frames to be able to still capture the rest. This is a common problem with old, terrible computers.

yeah before i started scootering again i captured with vegas. and i have never captured on my dvx. but the problems fixed i haven't had one dropped frame when i captured with iMovie then just brought it over into fcp.
