Mutts Quad Clamp

Rob, i know that, but what i was saying is that using a quad clamp on a threaded fork wouldnt be bad for your bars, other wise if you where using SCS it would be bad for your bars. Because if the bar is getting clamped above the forktube, then that is the same thing as the bar without slits on a SCS being clamped in the SCS, if you know what i mean.

Its not bad for your bars, but really, theres no reason behind it.

Anyways..........

Did you read what I posted at all?
Here. I made you a diagram.

im trying to not be a dick but why do you think slitted bars break above the slit so often? over clamping.

That would work fine. That's what I'm doing with my two XT clamps. I tightened three out of the four bolts that COVER the slit and left the one above it untightened. It looks better than an XT clamp and a single clamp.

Alright Rob, i had a Quad Clamp and i loosend the ones that are above the slit. Is this good now?

Also, how do i tell whether having all 4 done up tight for a week has done any damage to my bars?

Thanks.

That's good to hear, and a week shouldn't damage your bars, it's just continuous use will weaken it.
