My Opinion on Learning new tricks

Never take tips from anyone, I'm not saying they won't be right because I can bet there are many people that are good at explaining what they do, but learning and practising your own way develops your own style.

That is now my motto, lol, but seriously, it's not just about tricks, gaps and air, style is unique, a tailwhip isn't unless it has unique style, I think you know what I'm saying.

This is just my own opinion and I think that this is why you should learn your own stuff, the pro's and some amateurs that have been riding a while of today all have their own style, this is because when alot of us started scootering, we didn't have people helping us what to do, and this is what developed our styles and unique'ness.

Interesting theory the 'Lone scooterer Take', but what if It was Josh Toy or Terry Price giving the tips?
But still very interesting, I mean, no one taught me my best tricks.

It's not a theory, and for josh toy or terry price to give advice on awesome tricks, they must be able to do awesome tricks, but who was there before them teaching them? No-one, so it makes no difference, not a lone scooterer take, although I do often ride alone, but style is the hardest thing to achieve in a sport, so why copy it?

Dang Dude, Chill, That's cool. Innovation & what-not, I'm all for that as you can see by a lot of my posts. I'm the only real pronounced scooterer in N. Ireland that I know of. Who can teach me? No one that's who, I mean theres not a lot people can say or do 2 make a trick easier 2 people is dere? So we gotta do it ourselves. Am I right?

i dont agree with that idea.. if we never got and tips from ppl then we proly wouldnt be as good... and by watching ppl's vid.. that gives us, at least me, ideas about what to do next.. thats just my opinion

yeah i get what your saying like kids are taking the pros styles somewhat or tryin to and what your trying to get at is if you dont watch as much riding you will start to originate with your own style. i mean that Coir-E kid i guess hasnt been in the scene for awile so he has his own style tricks n shit so yeah

Ideas is fine. And like I said before, where do you think the pro's or long time riders got their styles and tips and whatever from?

And I watch tons of videos, but don't neccassarily copy exactly what they do.

I just feel at the moment people don't get out there and do the tricks and practice them themself, they seem to want to guidance on everything.

i dont agree with stealing pro's styles.. but i do agree with observing ther tricks and applying it to your style of riding... when i looked at matt ogle's first mini vid ages ago that vid taught me so many things.. the main thing was fakie, so i do fakie alot more than i used to and its opened up a new window of tricks but i use my own style... same with brian boston doin a barspin flat i once saw ages ago... i started to do barspins and thats opened alot more tricks to me like bar to whip etc... im not sayin you depict the way pro riders ride and ride exactly like them.. but they are pro's so learn from them, but do their tricks in YOUR onn style... if you know what i mean

Or you can be like me, be in the seen for what, two years now? And not do shit.
Hahahaha same here.

I disagree, I think that no one's stupid enough to totally mimic the style and tricks of someone he sees in a video. For me, the vids are very important because of opening the mind for new tricks. Its way easier to learn a trick if you have seen bunch of ppl doing it, than when you havent seen anyone do it. As for giving tips, its ok but its better to just think a bit about what youre doing wrong and figure it out for yourself.
