Hello.

I just had an idea. What if you had a chromoly steerer tube, with a starnut in it, and you put a cross-bar on, and compressed it on? no welds. let me draw something on paint to help explain hold on..

it would be like a simpler form of buffs. like..

this: buffs
ics: scs

idk i think it would be worth a shot it would be easy to change crossbar size.

okay now that i put up pictures now what do you think? i think it would work if you didnt have the money to get new bars, or something.

there is another option:

- Make wee-style bars, but only the big tube with the gussets welded on them, so it creates a little bowl to lay down your crossbar in.

- when your crossbar is finally set in to place, get two clamps that will fit over the crossbar and gussets.

- tighten the clamp on each side.

This way your bars will be solid enough to shred the gnar, but still be optional with different crossbar widths.

Definitely. Star nuts are used to compress your headset, only as tight as you can turn an allen wrench. They're not made to take the stress of your entire body weight.

it's not meant to take the stress of your entire body. the nipple-style hole in the bars takes all the force of the bars going whichever way.. the bolt just keeps the bars from moving.. i think it would work i'll try it and let you guys know.
