No really, I was offering him advice.
My friends dad told me the other day to only use filters if needs be, as they make the picture worse quality.
I was talking to martin and we agreed that fisheye is just way overused nowadays, and by the sounds of the one matt got it sounds dodgy and bad anyway.
I dont like how people jump in the deep end, when you see kids with buffs,sr fork and metalcores, and cant whip, dont tell me that doesnt get on your nerves not even a little bit.

Then why would pro photographers use filters? If you have a clean filter with no scratches, you won't lose image quality. If you don't have a UV filter on your lens, dust WILL get to the inside elements, and that is literally impossible to get out. Plus, nobody I know uses lens caps, they use UV filters. Image quality doesn't matter when you're a beginner. When you step up to the pro plate, then get a good filter, like B+W filters. It will run you about $200 per filter, but apparantly image quality is such a big deal to you, you might just pay the price...

Oh, and if IQ REALLY matters, why would people upload to Flickr or Photobucket or Facebook, or even Myspace? The compress the image so much to save space....

Yea I used my UV[0] filter just to protect my lens..until one day I took my lens cap off and it was shattered lol. Just go out take pictures and have fun with it. Who gives a shit what everyone else says about it. If you like your pictures then thats all that matters. Everyone has a different style and eye. Not everyone is going to like your shit. Be creative most of all. And if you want 2 good books to help you on everything get "The digital photorgraphy book" 1 and 2..they are by Scott Kelby. I have them and they have a bunch of good shit in them.
