I put four, centered on each face of the fork. The way i see it with one pin you are going to have more force on the opposite side so I would at least do 2, one in the front and one in the back.

yes, but why are you so interested in knowing? do you have one of the old french id forks?

If your planning on buying one from a shop pretty much all of them stock the v2s now, so there isnt a need to pin them.

To an extent. You really probably don't need more than two, I just figured while I was drilling might as well make it symmetrical and strong as possible.
