New Fork Reinforcement idea



the first reinforcement is the t tube idea, the second is a 9/16 deep socket, and the third was just for kicks but its a reg 3/8 bolt that fits nicely in the hole. People have prably tried this before but if your a fork breaker this might be for you.

People have done that before. When people break their forks , most of them break the fork only at the threaded part , not the reinforcements. Reinforcements help a little bit but not much. What you are doing is reinforcing the reinforcements but if the fork breaks and the reinforcement is fine , what you are doing is quite pointless.
 
i see where your coming from on this and yea i agree, but i have broken forks in the past when they were reinforced and i've been riding these for 3 monthes and i havent had any issues. they seem to have helped me alot but im just tryin to help people with the same problem.

Like John said, if the reinforcement isn't breaking, there's no point. The reason reinforcements don't stop the fork from breaking completely is because there's usually a small gap between the fork and the reinforcement tube. If you have to use tape to hold the reinforcement in, it's not going to work as well as if it fits snug without tape.

To fix that problem good, I think you'd not only want an extra thick fork, but also make the INSIDE threaded and screw in a tube that has a threaded outside. Not as much of a gap and threads holding in place.

you guys..............lets just say you stuffed a big thick solid pole down your fork....and it is stuck inside without taping it......it would be stronger than a peace of alimineum t tube that can bend compared to a solid steel pipe............they are both reinforcements but one is better and stronger....thats what this kid is doing

I don't think you under stood me "emiliooo!", the threading is on the inside and the reinforcement threads into it, getting rid of the gap that allows it too bend. The little gap gives room for it to move, so you need something snug. The threaded inside would make it stronger with a reinforcement, but not have a problem that much without it.

i used a bike seat post and it rit really snugly, i had to tap it in with a hammer, but my fork is sooo strong.

that's a really good idea, but it would be heavy.

I think that weight would make it better Ian, it would even it out a little more. Front end weight just makes manuals harder to get into I'm pretty sure.

i used to break forks like every 2 weeks then i got my threadless and i have been riding it for like 2 months and it is still strong.

if you have the money just upgrade to threadless
