NEW POST, PLEASE HELP!

all this things doing is giving me problems, i had all my stuff dialed in, but when i lifted on my bars somewhat hard i heard a weird sound, and now when i took my stuff off, and try to put it back on, something is stripped, and i think its my compression bolt, meaning i have to pay another like 25 bucks with shipping and wait another 3 weeks to use it again, thats so gay ahhhh.

edit - if when i tighten my long allen bolt, it gets fairly tight then like goes loose then tight all while im turning it, whats stripped, allen bolt or star nut?

hate to say it, but probably both...
did you tap in the star nut with the bolt IN?
its because there's noot enough threads on the allen bolt to continue tightening, so it stripped,
which means you need to tap in the star nut farther, use bmx fork spacers, or
1. take out your star nut
2. drill a larger hole if possible
3. go to a hardware store and get a long bolt to fit it, and get the matching nut
4. hope it works good, if not, take it out again and order a new one

bummer dude =[ i think you just need a new one and make sure it's put in perfectly.

if you had it dialed at one point put it exactly how you had it then.

I own SR.
The bolts are grade 12.9 alloy so I really doubt that is what stripped. most likely it is the star nut... It sounds like you are bottoming out the threads on the bolt into the star nut and it is slipping. You MIGHT be able to hammer the star nut in some more and you might still have enough threads to catch or you might need a new star nut but like Zak said if you had it dialed in once then all you gotta do is take your time and you can get it dialed in again.

I'm pretty sure Dibbs had 20x more trouble than you are having though... lol.

well, dibbs told me maybe the threads werent catching, therefore my star nut was in too far, so i took one of my headset spacers off and now it seems to be tight but i have yet to ride it, ill just lock-tite it and hope its fine.

hope it works out for you man, that'll suck using $75 for a compression system! there needs to be like a $10 SR lifetime waranty for all of your products that are sketchy
