New scooter

I posted a little while ago about dialing in my son’s Fuzion Z300 scooter but I think we’re ready for an upgrade. He’s 8.5 yrs and is beginning to get ok with tricks. He skates on the street and at skate parks. I’m looking for a complete because I really don’t know enough to assess parts for a custom.

I’ve read through some of the threads regarding recommendations and although they varied, it seems that most advised that the Flavor Awakening was a good buy. Some of the threads were a over a year old but I assume the Awakening is still a good buy. I browsed around and the going price ranges but seems that one can be had for around $300. Then, I came across this on Amazon. Is this legit and a good buy?

Thanks.

Ahh great. I can't insert a link yet so I have to be clever. Go to Amazon and enter "Flavor Awakening Pro Scooter Complete" in the search bar.

Awakening is a great buy, but Flavor makes bigger, heavier parts (I'd say the Awakening's bar height and deck size is good for a person in the lower/mid five foot area, not an eight year old). Many companies make smaller completes, but these aren't companies that will get recommended here, due to the fact that most people on here, if not all, like to support brands owned by an actual scooter rider, and these mainly cater to the needs of more developed riders. However, Ethic DTC is a rider owned brand offering a complete tailored for beginners, the Artefact. The artefact is a great buy for him, because it is light, bars come small (I don't know if small enough for your kid) and is made by a reputable brand. If you want to get more information on customs, I can get you that, but first I should probably ask, what city do you live in? Because there might be a scooter shop near you. It's a just maybe thing, but if you're lucky, you will have a good shop near you with happy to help employees.

Thanks. I'm in Boston.

Just looked up some specs on the Artefact and the bars are 22", same height as the Awakening. Not sure about the weight though.

Sure you aren't looking at width instead of hieght? But Boston, I found a skate shop with at least a few scooters called ollie up. Should check that out.

No, I'm not sure at all. It's completely possible that I was looking at width. I'll check out the shop. Appreciate the help.
