Nikon D70s vs. D80

ok so im getting a new body in july from adorama(used), and i was looking to buy a D80 but theyve got a couple D70s' so im wondering what kinda differences there are and which one is worth it.

D80 is a bit bigger, it has firmware updates/upgrades, more MP, bigger lcd, hi speed USB 2.0 (instead of full speed), uses SD cards instead of compact flash, obviously its newer.

But from what ive read and what not everyone says if your just an amateur just get a D70s, its cheaper and will allow you to get more lenses with the money you didn't spend on the D80.

I have a D70s and I like it, produces some good pictures.

isnt compact flash a better thing, they're cheaper and come in bigger sizes?

SD now comes in up to 8gb i think (Correct me if i'm wrong), which is as much as a compact flash.
I'm looking at a Nikon D80, or a Canon 1000d at the moment.
Both are pretty much brand new models, and are, from what i've heard, really good entry - mid level cameras.

actually the biggest SD is 16gb and the biggest compact flash is now 64gb..so compact flash comes in much bigger capacity's.

The speeds are the same with both mostly and the only real advantage to SD is that if your upgrading from a point and shoot chances are you already have an SD card to use, if the D-SLR your getting uses SD.

yep. but anything over 4gb is pretty much going to be overkill. when i shoot in raw+jpg i can still fit almost 300 pictures on my sd card, which is usually more than enough.

ok so im looking to buy used drom adorama and i saw that some of the d100s are less that the d70s so is the D100 a newer model than the d80?

D100s are older. But they are basically the same exact camera. Only thing better about D100 is that you can get a vertical grip for it and have it actually have a shutter release button.
