Hi all,
I have a 2003 TNG Venice. 2-stroke 50cc, engine is a QJ1E40QMB
The scooter has lost spark for some reason. I figured I'd start with the kill switch as that seems to be a common issue. I just took the two wires going to the kill switch and connected them together.
That didn't help so here's what I've done:
- Replaced plug
- Replaced Coil
- Replaced CDI
- Replaced Stator
Still no spark.
The Stator is pumping about 70v (Is it V? I can't remember) to the CDI.
The Stator pickup is sending 4-5v to the CDI.
I have tried with the kill switch connected and not connected.
There are only 5 wires on the CDI.
Power
Pickup
Kill
Ground
Positive lead to Coil
If I ignore everything else in the wiring harness and am getting 70v to the CDI and 4v from the trigger and the CDI is grounded, shouldn't I be able to get a spark? I've tried checking all the settings on the multimeter to see if there is power coming out the positive lead to the coil but the old CDI and the new one don't appear to be sending a pulse to the coil/plug. I know chasing down issues in the electical can be an issue but as long as I have ground, power and pulse, shouldn't I be able to get power to the coil?
Any help at all would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts!
