Oh there's so much more to it than just social media. This place used to be fucking incredible. I learned so much on here.
Like the first time I ever bought new bars and I couldn't figure out how to get the fucking grips on. Only took two minutes for someone to tell me that hairspray does it. That time when I had a starnut stuck in my bars and someone told me to get it out with a bicycle wheel spoke. That time someone wanted to know how to cut a brake and everyone took the piss posting photos of scissors and particle colliders for like 10 pages. When MGP realized they had more than just a kmart budget product and actually started giving a fuck, there thread in aussie land was massive and everyone wanted pictures of the nitro before it was released. They were unbreakable until someone (iirc) did a briflip off a 6-8ft quarter to flat and snapped it off at the headtube. So MGP stopped production and redesigned it with a forged headtube instead of a welded one. When Stan Smirnoff got kicked from eagle because he refused to take a proto off the front. When TRW came and got destroyed by some malaysian dudes. When the only decks you could buy without getting a whole scooter were TSIs. Hella Dank compression. When CJ treihart bought a bunch of crap chinese wheels and invented his own company called top notch. That time Billy Rainbow practically wrote an engineering thesis arguing with some guy about speed holes and whether they weaken a deck. There's so much more I could go on for days.
I just hope this place isn't lost altogether because it's an excellent resource of information that people can find when googling problems. Unfortunately some people just won't be able to ask questions that haven't been answered and have a community help them brainstorm.
