On the camera hunt...

Alrighty, the basics.
I'm looking for a mini DV 3ccd camera,
I've been looking at the Panasonic GS500, (NV or PV or whatever, either one)
and just wondering, is that the best for that price range or can i get better for a little cheaper, yada yada yada,
so if anybody could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

and yeah, I have a semi-strict budget, my job is shit and parents are tight-arses.

edit:

I've thought about it a bit more, and I've decided, i get a new SLR or video camera.

DSLR suggestions around the same price range as the GS500 (meaning 900 tops)

deff get a panny gs320 or 500, and since you live in australia you would want to get the PAL version not the NTSC. i just cant remember which is which. pretty sure the NV is PAL

gs500 if you want to spend that much has bigger chips and viewfinder that moves the 320 doesnt
