one peice bar questions

im going about making my own one peice bars. but to use the stock the clamp the od has to be 34mm and the inner diameter roughly 28mm that means 6mm wall tube, what measurment have i taken wrong or will i have to make shims as well for the clamp

with the wall thickness he uses it comes out at about 30mm and the id of the standard clamp is 34mm. would 6mm walled aluminium tube be strong enough as this would let me use the standard clamp
