Is that a joke? The first one piece decks were like 3.7 wide x 19 long lmao plus the dropouts bent upwards and they weren't very strong.

Nope, fully serious.

At the time I rode the deck I was in fact younger, so it felt perfectly fine then. I still ride 19" - 20" L decks so im not bothered by anything.

Why does everyone get such a hard-on for strikers? They were a chromo ultra pro fork. They bent left and right.
proto striker forks are fucking sweeeeet if you don't ride pegs. The dropouts are almost inexistent and the length of the forks themselves are shorter than any other fork on the market, so they are actually flush with your deck. That's the way forks should be, tilt forks stick out like a whole 1/2'' on most decks its so annoying. And they are actually really strong, I have 3 and never bent a pair.

i'm trying not to be too nooby but why did proto stop making orion decks? they were the bomb (a bit pricy for the time but whatevs)
were they not cost effective or did people just stop buying them?
did they just get outdated in the eyes of proto?

I never really liked the Proto deck.
Felt like the deck plate was made of solid lead and the headtube felt too light for the deck plate. They were strong, but grinds werent on TSI level and feel wasnt great.
They looked good though, and with a little tweaking of the deck plate plus bigger sizes they would be awesome.
