Im actually at the point of trying to take the crown race off. Any suggestions ....???? I have tools and vise / common sense but it is a bitch to get at. Im thinking of taking it to bike store to see if they can get it off.

Hammer annd a screw driver(flat head) and vice
1. Put fork in vice upside down
2. Take screw driver and place on bottum of race
3. Hit the top of screw driver with hammer
4. Keep hitting it untill its off

Ill explain alittle more...I have taken off a few in my days.... the problem is the fork is very thick were the crown race sits. I have attempted to hammer / pry it out.. I actually bent a craftsman flathead tonight trying..... the race is on and seated all the way down/ VERY tight....I know at a bike shop they have a special clamp that tightens in four positions then you hammer it off upside down.... this is my dilemma

Hmmm well there is a few things you could get a new race and leave that one alone incase you want to ride it again or don't use a screw driver and just smack the living shit out of it untile its off

I'd suggest using a crown race that has a split in it. Makes life easier. The race that came with my origin 8 had a slit.

i hear they are great forks. One problem though that i ahve seen personally would be the built on little wheels spacers. YOu need to look to know what i mean but they can get fucked up. I have seen this in person from a friend of mine

they look extremely nice and are good, but my friend recentley just snapped a pair and they were a year and a half old, so I would suggest buying some other fork like the proto seniors or the new phoenix wedges

I ride with a slit in my crown race too. And i agree it makes everything soooo much easier.
